Oil Tank Removal in Hillsborough County NH
Hillsborough County holds both of New Hampshire's biggest cities and they sit at opposite ends of the oil map. Manchester heats 25.9% of its homes with oil. Nashua heats 8.4%.
The county as a whole is 28.2%, which is higher than either city. That arithmetic only works one way: the towns in between are carrying it.
Where the Tanks Actually Are
48,341 households in the county heat with oil, out of 171,415. Take Manchester's 12,469 and Nashua's share out of that and what is left sits in Bedford, Goffstown, Merrimack, Amherst, Litchfield, Weare, New Boston and the smaller towns west and south.
Those are the places where the gas main never arrived, or arrived on one road and nowhere else. It is common for two houses a quarter mile apart to be on completely different heating systems, and for only one of them to know the other had a choice.

What Changes Outside the City
Rural properties tend to give you better access and worse ground. A tank behind a house on two acres is easy to reach with a machine, which brings the labor down. What it can cost you instead is depth, ledge, and a septic field you would rather not drive over.
Outdoor aboveground tanks are also more common out here than in the city, and they age differently. A tank exposed to the weather for thirty winters has a different failure pattern from one that has sat in a dry basement the whole time.
The Grant Works the Same Everywhere
Safetank is a state program, not a municipal one, so a Weare homeowner and a Manchester homeowner are treated identically: up to $4,000 toward an aboveground replacement, up to $4,500 toward an underground removal, income-qualified, work pre-approved before it starts.
